ESSENTIAL INFORMATION

NC STATE BOARD OF COSMETIC ARTS
COSMETOLOGISTS- MANICURISTS- ESTHETICIANS- HAIR WEAVERS

Effective April 1, 2012 all licensees must:

1. Maintain records of course title, description, date, address of location and number of hours earned

2. Ensure at least 50% of subject matter broadens the knowledge of the cosmetic art profession
(instructors – 50% teacher training techniques/and enhance the ability to communicate)

3. After completion of these requirements date and sign affirmation of course completion

Course providers no longer submit course applications, packets, lesson plans, schedules or attendee
information directly to the Board. Please look for updates on our website in mid-April.  Should you have

The above notice changes the entire cosmetic arts CE program in North Carolina.
The license holder is now responsible for complying with the law requiring eight hours of continuing
education each year. YOU must chose CE classes that meet the state requirements in item 2.
If you chose the wrong class or chose not to take the required courses and you are audited, you will be
fined by the state and possibly loose your license.
We at TROUTMANS strongly recommend that you chose a class from a reputable provider that
follows NC law.
